We previously explained how to pay zakat (definition) on an internet project: that the equipment used in it is not subject to zakat because it is not intended for trade. Rather, zakat is due on the profit generated from the project if it reaches the nisab (definition) (threshold) and a hawl (full lunar year) passes over it. Therefore, as long as no profit has been generated and a hawl has not passed over it, you do not owe zakat. It is important to note that the mentioned loan is usurious, so one must repent from it and not return to similar dealings.
