Is it permissible to play pranks for the sake of laughter, such as recoloring a used phone card to make it look new and then throwing it to observe and mock others' reactions, and is this considered lying or deception?

Joking between brothers and friends is permissible if it is for the sake of jest and lightheartedness, and it does not become excessive or exceed the bounds of moderation. However, if its intent is to mock others, ridicule them, or embarrass them, then it is not permissible due to the harm it inflicts upon a Muslim and the mockery involved. Allah, the Almighty, says: "And those who harm believing men and believing women for [something] other than what they have earned have certainly borne slander and a manifest sin" (Al-Ahzab: 58). He also says: "O you who have believed, let not a people ridicule [another] people; perhaps they may be better than them; nor let women ridicule [other] women; perhaps they may be better than them" (Al-Hujurat: 11).
