What is the ruling on using the Qur’an in jokes to make people laugh?
Belief in the divine books is a pillar of faith that necessitates their veneration, and belittling them contradicts this veneration. Whoever belittles the Holy Quran has committed clear disbelief and apostatized from Islam, and the jester and the serious person are equal in the ruling of apostasy. The perpetrator of such an act must be asked to repent for three days. If he repents, his repentance is accepted; otherwise, the Muslim ruler must execute him after sunset on the fourth day. The proof for this is Allah’s saying: "Say: 'Was it Allah and His verses and His Messenger that you were mocking?' Make no excuses; you have disbelieved after your belief."
