Is it necessary to have the intention of exiting the state of ihram when shortening the hair for Umrah, or is merely shortening it sufficient?

The 'Umrah (definition) is valid if a person intends to perform it when he begins the iḥrām and does not intend to interrupt it until he exits from it. It is not obligatory to maintain the intention throughout all parts of the ritual. Thus, exiting the state of iḥrām occurs by shortening the hair even if there was no intention for it, just as is the case with the intention for shaving in a state of being prevented from completing the pilgrimage (iḥṣār). There is no need for an intention to exit the ritual after its completion.
