What is the explanation of the noble prophetic hadith narrated by Bukhari (7510) and Muslim (193) concerning intercession: "When it is the Day of Resurrection, people will surge against one another. They will come to Adam... 'Go and take out from the Fire anyone who has, to the slightest, slightest, slightest degree, an atom's weight of faith in his heart.' So he will go and do that"?

In the Hadith concerning intercession, the Prophet (peace be upon him) says, in the final stages of intercession: "O Lord, permit me concerning those who said 'La ilaha illa Allah' (There is no god but Allah)." Allah will then say: "By My Glory, My Majesty, My Grandeur, and My Magnificence, I shall certainly take out from it [Hellfire] whoever said 'La ilaha illa Allah'." This includes the believers in the Prophet (peace be upon him) from among the people of 'La ilaha illa Allah'. As for those who did not believe in the Prophet (peace be upon him), no intercession will be made for them, nor will the intercession of anyone benefit them. The Hadith mentions that the Prophet (peace be upon him) intercedes for his ummah (the ummah of response) three times to take out from the Fire whoever had in their heart the weight of a speck, or a barley grain, or the slightest mustard seed of faith. Then, he returns for the fourth time and asks permission concerning those who said "La ilaha illa Allah." Allah then says: "By My Glory, My Majesty, My Grandeur, and My Magnificence, I shall certainly take out from it whoever said 'La ilaha illa Allah'."
