How sound is the prayer of two rak'ahs, in which Surat Al-Fatihah is recited, and seven times the verse: "It may be that Allah will ordain love between you and those with whom you have been at enmity. And Allah is Competent, and Allah is Forgiving and Merciful," and in the supplication thereafter: "O Allah, soften the heart of so-and-so son of so-and-so towards so-and-so daughter of so-and-so, just as You softened iron for David," for reconciliation between spouses?

There is no specific prayer called "the prayer for reconciliation between spouses," and it is not permissible to invent an act of worship or attribute it to the Sharia. This prayer, with the intention and manner described, is a rejected innovation (bid'ah). However, there is no harm in saying the aforementioned supplication or similar ones like "O Allah, make my spouse beloved to me, and make me beloved to them" during regular prayers (obligatory or supererogatory), or outside of prayer. Reconciling disputes between people is of great importance in Sharia, and its corruption has been described as "the shaver" that shaves away religion. The Sharia has provided means for rectifying homes, including: choosing a righteous spouse, making the home a place for the remembrance of Allah, establishing Allah's law within it, providing spiritual upbringing for its occupants, reciting Surat Al-Baqarah, not allowing entry to those whose religion is not approved, and safeguarding the secrets of the home.
