How can a woman determine the time of ghusl and prayer after her menstrual period, if heavy bleeding stops on the fourth or fifth day, and turns into brown or light-blood-mixed discharge that continues until the end of the eighth day, and this discharge appears intermittently after short periods of cleanliness, raising her doubts about her purity and the obligation to pray?

A woman recognizes purity by two signs: dryness (which is the emergence of the cotton swab clean, with no trace of blood, yellowness, or turbidity on it) or the white discharge.

If a woman sees dryness, even for a short period, she must perform ghusl (ritual bath) and pray. Then, if blood, yellowness, or turbidity returns during her customary period, she is considered to be menstruating again.

It is obligatory to stop praying for the duration of seeing blood, or yellowness, or turbidity connected to it during the customary period. There is no obligation to make up prayers after purity, nor is there any obligation to refrain from bathing for fear of blood returning if purity has been confirmed.
