Is it sufficient for the stones to fall into the basin or plate designated for throwing?

Throwing the pebbles (rami al-jimār) means throwing the pebbles into their designated places, which are the basins surrounding the pillars (shakhis). If a pebble falls into the basin designated for the throwing, the throwing is valid and sufficient according to the consensus of scholars. It is not required for the pebble to remain in the basin after falling into it, nor is it required for the pebble to hit the pillar, as the pillar is only a marker for the throwing area.
