Is it permissible to prevent a wife from (taking) her gold after she has tried to steal it, and (then) obliging the husband to pay its price again after divorce, and is that permissible as an act of revenge against her?

If the gold is truly the wife's right, then it is not permissible to withhold it from her, and it must be given to her, even if she is abusive or unjust. This is based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Render back the trusts to those who entrusted you, and do not betray those who betray you." Her attempt to steal the gold does not justify withholding her right.
