The defect by which a marriage may be annulled is what people consider a defect, because there is no specific religious text defining it; thus, it is determined by custom. Ibn al-Qayyim holds that any defect that causes repulsion in the other spouse and prevents the purpose of marriage necessitates the option (of annulment).

Therefore, if these "discolorations" are considered a defect in the country, the suitor must be informed of them to prevent the annulment of the marriage later. If they can be removed through cosmetic procedures without harm, then there is no objection due to necessity. However, if they are not considered a defect in the country, then there is no need to inform the suitor about them.
