How can jinn ride humans, considering Allah Almighty's saying: "And We have certainly honored the children of Adam," and Satan's saying in Surat Yusuf: "And I had no authority over you except that I invited you, and you responded to me"? And is it conceivable that what afflicted the black woman mentioned by Ibn Abbas—seizures and exposure—was due to the jinn, and the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, would leave her suffering from that?

By the will of Allah Almighty, jinn have an effect on humans, such as epilepsy caused by Satan. This is established in the Qur’an and Sunnah, by the consensus of Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jama’ah, and has been affirmed by Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah and others. The epilepsy caused by jinn differs from medical epilepsy, and doctors find no cure for it except through resistance by righteous spirits. The patience of the afflicted person with this tribulation will lead to Paradise. And His saying, "And I had no authority over you," does not negate their power to touch. To protect oneself from jinn and their evil, one should adhere to the prescribed adhkar (remembrances), recite Surat al-Baqarah, the Two Last Surahs (al-Mu'awwidhatayn), and generally recite the Qur’an.
