It is not permissible to give zakat to one's divorced wife with the intention that she is among those whose hearts are to be reconciled (al-mu'allafah qulubuhum), even if she is a recent convert to Islam and the aim is to strengthen her faith. It was previously concluded that it is not permissible to give zakat to a woman who is a recent convert to Islam on the grounds that she is among those whose hearts are to be reconciled.
