What should a remorseful girl do who has repented to God after having unlawful relationships in the past, and now fears scandal if a suitor comes forward who would not accept her past?
You have done well by regretting your sinful relationships, and we ask Allah to accept your repentance. Be wary of the devil's steps, which may lead to indecency. You must conceal your sin and not inform anyone about it, for "all of my nation are forgiven except those who publicize their sins." If the virginity was lost due to fornication and the suitor stipulates it, you must inform him that it is lost without stating the reason. Instead, mention other possible reasons for its loss. Strive to repel the whispers of exposure by remembering Allah and supplicating. If exposure does occur, then use allusions to deny it after your repentance.
