-What is the ruling on working in prisons (correctional institutions)?

Imprisonment is a legitimate means of disciplinary punishment in Islam for disciplining disobedient individuals, and it was legislated by Umar ibn al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him. It is permissible to work in a prison if only those whom Islamic law decrees to be imprisoned are incarcerated there. However, if both criminals and innocent people are imprisoned there, then it is not permissible to work in it, as it involves cooperation in sin and aggression.
