Why do veiled and niqabi girls face harassment and delayed marriage, while less observant girls marry easily, and does this contradict what is religiously expected?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

The predominant view is that a woman who adheres to her hijab and obeys her Lord is held in awe, and thus, wicked individuals do not dare to harm her. This is in accordance with the verse: "They should draw down their outer garments over themselves. That is more suitable that they will be known and not be abused." A righteous woman may occasionally face harm, but this is not the prevailing characteristic. If she is harmed because of her faith, then she will have a good end.

As for marriage, many non-religious men seek out righteous women because they do not trust those who display their adornments. The high number of unmarried women is not exclusive to religious women; rather, it is a general problem due to young men's reluctance to marry, their lack of financial means, and the exorbitant dowries demanded by some guardians.
