The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) prohibited selling what one does not own, based on the of Hakim ibn Hizam: "The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) forbade me from selling what I do not possess." The illustration of this is when a website owner displays pictures of products he does not own, and when the sale is concluded, he purchases them and then sends them to the buyer.
