Is it permissible for a husband to abandon his wife in speech and in bed over the slightest disagreement, especially if he does not admonish or discuss the problem?

A husband's abandonment of his wife for more than three nights merely for a review is forbidden and a sin. The Sharia prohibits estrangement between Muslims for more than three nights without a legitimate reason. This prohibition is emphasized for spouses, especially since Allah has commanded spouses to treat each other kindly.

The Sharia has permitted a husband to abandon his rebellious (nashiz) wife only, and not at the outset, but rather after admonition proves ineffective. It is not permissible to abandon her if she is righteous and upright. Nor is it permissible for him to abandon her in the sense of ceasing to speak to her for more than three nights, even if she is rebellious.

Spouses should seek wisdom, understanding, and overlook minor faults. Refusing dialogue leads to an escalation of disputes and separation, and separation has negative effects on children. Efforts must be made to reconcile them, involve wise individuals, and frequently supplicate.
