The answer

The installments you have paid fall into one of two categories:

1. If you have other money of the same type and the lunar year (hawl) for all your money is the same, then the amount you paid in installments is subject to along with the rest of your money when its hawl is due. Any excess amount you received from the association, you are liable to pay zakat on it if you possess an equivalent amount in trade goods, and its hawl begins from the day you received it. 2. If you do not have other money, or if you do have money but its hawl is different, then the hawl for the amount you paid in installments begins from the day it reaches the (equivalent to 85 grams of gold). Zakat (2.5%) becomes obligatory on it after the passing of one lunar year. The rest of the money received from the association has the same ruling as in the first case. Combining multiple turns does not affect the ruling; either it is subject to zakat along with the rest of the existing money, or each amount received is subject to zakat from the day it was received.
