What is the ruling on a female student taking meal provisions for the days she was absent from the university dormitory, knowing that she paid money that includes accommodation and food, and she is only entitled to meals on the days of her stay?

If the university city system provides daily meals for a fee, then whoever misses his meal is not entitled to replace it on a later day except with the permission of those in charge of the food; because he buys a specific meal for its day, and the restaurant is not obligated to keep it. So, if the student leaves his meal, the restaurant has the right to dispose of it. Taking an alternative meal on another day without permission is taking what is not rightfully due, and it is forbidden, requiring repentance and returning what was stolen or seeking absolution from the administration, based on the Prophet’s ﷺ saying: “On the hand is what it has taken until it renders it.” And whoever has been wronged, let him seek absolution before there is no dinar or dirham. If the restaurant is state-owned and it is impossible to return what was taken, then he must give charity equivalent to the value of the meals.
