What is the ruling on exchanging a large plot of land far from urban areas for a small plot of land close to urban areas?

It is permissible to sell (exchange) a large plot of land for a smaller one, because land is not among the usurious commodities for which equality is a condition when exchanging some for others. It has been authentically reported that Ibn Umar sold a plot of land north of Medina to Uthman, may Allah be pleased with them both, in exchange for a plot closer to Medina.
