Am I allowed to bequeath some of my gold for charitable acts, or is it better to leave it for my needy husband, and how is a will to be written?

It is preferable to leave gold for the heirs as long as their condition warrants it and its owner does not possess much, due to the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "It is better that you leave your heirs wealthy than that you leave them poor, begging from people." A will is recommended for someone who possesses a large amount of wealth, but it is not recommended for someone who possesses little wealth and whose heirs are in need. A person is rewarded for leaving wealth to needy heirs, and the reward is obtained in both cases, whether through a will for the poor or by leaving wealth to the heirs.
