Will a person be held accountable for evil thoughts about his brother, even if he does not act upon them?
Allah has forgiven this nation for what they inwardly converse with themselves, as long as they do not act upon it or speak of it. Envy is a disease from which no one is safe, and the way out of it is not to seek harm if you envy. A person is not held accountable for the evil thoughts that cross their mind concerning their brother, as long as they do not harm him with words or deeds. However, it is better to seek refuge in Allah from Satan and to forgive the brother. It is not permissible for a Muslim to abandon his brother for more than three days.
