Who is the ignorant person in the view of Islam?

Ignorance in Islam is of two types: ignorance of Allah and the reverence due to Him, and ignorance of Allah's Sharia (law). The true scholar combines the glorification of Allah with the glorification of His command. And the ignorance in His (Allah's) saying, "The repentance accepted by Allah is only for those who do evil in ignorance," means committing evil while knowing it is evil. Thus, every disobedient person to Allah is ignorant, and every obedient person is knowledgeable. Whoever is knowledgeable of Allah and His greatness will fear and dread Him, and thus not disobey Him. As for one who prefers disobedience, that is due to his ignorance and his delusion that it will benefit him.
