Does swallowing food, or part of it, that comes out with a burp during prayer invalidate the prayer?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

If one eats or drinks intentionally during prayer, their prayer becomes null and void, whether the amount was little or much, and they must repeat it. If a burp expels food, it must be removed; if one swallows it intentionally, their prayer becomes null and void. However, if one swallows it unintentionally or is overcome by it, their prayer is valid. The presence of a small amount of food residue between the teeth or in the mouth, which saliva carries, and swallowing it does not invalidate the prayer because it is impossible to guard against it. Feeling the taste of food does not invalidate the prayer if it is very slight.
