What is the ruling on praying the one rak'ah of Witr by reciting from the Qur'an what is easily available from one's daily portion (wird)?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

What is mentioned in the Sunnah regarding the last rak'ah of Witr is the recitation of Surat Al-Ikhlas, or Al-Ikhlas along with Al-Mu'awwidhatayn (Surat Al-Falaq and Surat An-Nas). This is by way of recommendation, not a condition. Therefore, it is permissible to recite other than that, whatever is easy for you from the Qur'an, due to the general statement of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "When you stand for prayer, say 'Allahu Akbar,' and then recite what is easy for you from the Qur'an." There is no harm in reciting from one's daily portion (wird) in Witr prayer.
