Is the hadith, "The sleep of a scholar is better than the worship of an ignorant person," authentic?
The saying "The sleep of the scholar is better than the worship of the ignorant" is not a prophetic , nor an narration from the Companions or their successors. It is not found in the recognized books of . This saying was found in Shiite books, such as the book "Man La Yahduruhu al-Faqih," and other Shiite books have circulated it from there. Signs of fabrication are evident in this hadith, as some of its narrators are unknown even within Shiite books themselves. Moreover, its chain of narration is weak and contains unknown individuals. Similarly, the saying "The sleep of a scholar is worship" has no basis in any Marfu' (elevated) narration.
