Is the repetition of dhikr (remembrance) and du‘ā’ (supplication) at Ṣafā and Marwah done three times for each, or is the dhikr repeated three times and the du‘ā’ only twice? And is the Sunnah practice: dhikr followed by du‘ā’, then dhikr followed by du‘ā’, then dhikr followed by du‘ā’? Or is it: dhikr followed by du‘ā’, then dhikr followed by du‘ā’, then dhikr (without du‘ā’)?

Upon approaching Safa, one recites: (Indeed, Safa and Marwah are among the symbols of Allah. So whoever performs Hajj to the House or performs 'Umrah (definition), there is no blame upon him for circumambulating between them). And when ascending Safa and looking towards the Kaaba, one says: "There is no god but Allah alone, without partner. To Him belongs all sovereignty and praise, and He is over all things competent. There is no god but Allah alone. He fulfilled His promise, supported His servant, and defeated the confederates alone." Then one supplicates, then repeats the remembrance and supplication, doing so three times. And it is sunnah (definition) at Marwah to perform remembrance, supplication, and ascent, just as it is sunnah at Safa.
