Is it permissible to add "And I seek refuge in You from the promptings of the devils, and I seek refuge in You, my Lord, from their presence" to the Prophetic remembrance: "O Allah, I seek refuge in You from anxiety and sorrow, and I seek refuge in You from inability and laziness, and I seek refuge in You from cowardice and miserliness, and I seek refuge in You from the burden of debt and the oppression of men"?

It is permissible to add to the morning and evening adhkar (remembrances) if the addition is of the same jins (type/category) as the dhikr being added to; otherwise, it is not appropriate to add to them. However, there is no impediment to adding dhikr at other times, apart from the morning and evening adhkar. Ahmad, Abu Dawud, and Al-Tirmidhi narrated from Amr ibn Shu'ayb, from his father, from his grandfather, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to teach them words to say when frightened: "I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from His wrath, from the evil of His servants, from the whisperings of the devils, and from their presence."
