What is the ruling on taking an interest-bearing loan from an Islamic bank for marriage due to necessity?
It is not permissible to take a usurious loan for the purpose of marriage. Rather, one must be patient and chaste until Allah enriches them from His bounty, for Allah facilitates marriage for those who fear Him and provides for them from where they do not expect. Dealing with usury is a declaration of war against Allah and His Messenger. A single dirham of usury is more severe in the sight of Allah than thirty-six acts of fornication, and the easiest doors of usury are like a man marrying his mother. One must fear Allah and stay away from usurious loans. Also, one must be wary of some banks that claim to be Islamic but are not.
