Is it permissible for Muslims to buy and promote the sale of gold coins that have images on them in exchange for a monetary/cash price?

If gold coins bearing images of animate beings are used for decoration or hanging, then it is not permissible to sell or promote them, as they are included in the proofs for the prohibition of imaging and using images of animate beings. However, if they are circulating currency, there is no harm in carrying or dealing with them out of necessity, just as Muslims used to do with gold dinars that had images on them. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, commanded ease and lifting hardship. Images on circulating currency are not forbidden in mosques because they are not degraded, and their presence is a necessity. As for purchasing gold coins with currency, it is permissible on the condition of immediate mutual possession (hand-to-hand exchange).
