The answer

We have leaned towards permitting a woman to give her to her husband if he is eligible, and this is the view of the Shafi'i school. If the zakat is for paying off his debt, then it is even more permissible, and scholars have explicitly stated the permissibility of settling the debt of one's father and child from zakat if they are unable to do so themselves. It is permissible for the wife to give all her zakat to her indebted husband if he needs it to pay off his debt, and there is no obligation to give any of it to the poor according to the majority of scholars.
