The question

Am I obligated to pay compensation for the accident I caused, or should I let the commercial insurance company pay it, especially since I was unaware of the impermissibility of commercial insurance at the time of contracting, and given that insurance is compulsory in the state?

The answer

Commercial insurance is forbidden, and it is not permissible to subscribe to it voluntarily. However, if a person subscribes to it under duress or in ignorance of its prohibition, there is no sin upon him. Commercial insurance is permissible if one cannot bear the costs except through it, such as insuring cars, equipment, homes, and institutions to avert risks that cannot be covered otherwise. After that, one must transition to permissible cooperative insurance.
