What are the precautions a woman who has been granted a minor irrevocable divorce (baynunah sughra) must observe during her waiting period ('iddah)?

Scholars differed regarding the mourning period (iddah) for a woman who has been irrevocably divorced (mutallaqah ba'in). The Hanafis, Al-Shafi'i in his old opinion, and one of the two narrations from Ahmad, held that mourning is obligatory for her. As for the Malikis, Al-Shafi'i in his new opinion, and one of the two narrations from Ahmad, they held that mourning is not obligatory for her because it was the husband who separated from her.

If the opinion that mourning is obligatory for her is adopted, then she is only required to abstain from perfume and adornment. She is not prevented from wearing the niqab or from observing her iddah outside her home.

The iddah for an irrevocably divorced woman is three menstrual cycles if she menstruates, three months if she does not menstruate, and until she delivers her child if she is pregnant.
