Is the first circuit considered complete if one exits the masa'a before its end and walks alongside it before ascending to the second floor, and what is required of someone who has done that?

For the Sa'y to be valid, it must take place between Safa and Marwah. Anyone who performs Sa'y outside of this area, their Sa'y is invalid. If part of the Sa'y is outside the mas'a (the Sa'y path), this circuit is invalid. According to the majority of scholars, one must return to complete the Sa'y while avoiding the prohibitions of Ihram (definition). As for the Hanafis, what has been completed of the Sa'y is sufficient, and a dam (sacrificial animal) is required if the circuits are fewer than four. The majority view is that the muhrim (one in Ihram) does not exit from their Ihram until the Sa'y is completed, even if it is short by one step. It is preferable to re-perform the Sa'y from the beginning after the Tawaf (definition), to avoid the dispute of those who stipulate continuity.
