What is the ruling on a police officer accepting a bribe at the command of his superior to avoid dismissal from work?

Taking bribes is a major sin, as the Prophet (peace be upon him) cursed both the briber and the one who takes the bribe. The duty of a security officer is to protect people, not to aggress against them. This act constitutes a betrayal of trust and an unlawful appropriation of people's money. Therefore, it is impermissible to obey a superior in taking bribes from people, because obedience is only due in what is good and lawful. If such a situation arises, it may lead to leaving the job or escalating the matter to a higher authority.
