Is it permissible to supplicate with "Oh Allah, do not return me to the most decrepit of ages"?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

The aforementioned supplication is recommended due to what is authentically reported in Sahih al-Bukhari from Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him), that he used to teach his sons these words: "O Allah, I seek refuge in You from cowardice, and I seek refuge in You from being returned to the most decrepit age, and I seek refuge in You from the trials of the world, and I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the grave." The meaning of "the most decrepit age" is reaching extreme old age and senility.
