Is it permissible to lie to an employer to obtain leave to spend Ramadan in another country, and what is the expiation for lying?

Lying is forbidden and impermissible except out of dire necessity or for a recognized benefit that does not harm others and cannot be achieved without lying. The Prophetic Ahadith have indicated the prohibition and condemnation of lying, and that it is not a characteristic of a believer. If a permissible or obligatory matter cannot be achieved except through lying, then it is permissible at that time due to necessity. The expiation for lying is sincere repentance and refraining from it. Ta‘wiyah (ambiguity) and Ma‘areedh (allusions) can be used to avoid lying. A Muslim is advised to avoid residing in lands of disbelief if they fear for their religion.
