Surat Al-Muzzammil is among the first surahs of the Holy Qur'an to be revealed in Mecca. Its order of revelation is that it was the third surah revealed, while the verse "And from [part of] the night, pray with it as additional [worship] for you" from Surat Al-Isra was revealed later. Surat Al-Isra was revealed in Mecca approximately one year or five months before the Hijra. The Almighty's saying: "O you who wraps himself [in clothing] Arise [to pray] the night" was revealed first, and both verses encourage night prayer and draw attention to its virtue.
