What is the ruling on a husband telling his wife that he does not desire her sexually, given the psychological harm this causes her due to her belief that he does not love her?

If a man says to his wife, "I do not love you," she is not divorced by this statement unless he intended divorce. As for the ruling on his statement, he should not confront her with such words because it contradicts good companionship. He must either keep her with kindness or release her with goodness. The husband should remember the Prophet's (peace be upon him) guidance: "No believing man should hate a believing woman; if he dislikes one of her characteristics, he will be pleased with another." Moreover, homes are not built on love alone, but also on other interests such as the presence of children and marital relations.
