Is it true that Omar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) buried his daughter alive in the pre-Islamic era, and what is the evidence for that?

The Holy Quran informed us that some Arabs in the pre-Islamic era (Jahiliyyah) used to bury their daughters alive. However, the narration about 'Umar burying his daughter alive is false and unfounded. 'Umar married Zaynab bint Maz'un in the Jahiliyyah, and she bore him Hafsa, 'Abdullah, and 'Abd al-Rahman al-Akbar. Hafsa was his eldest daughter, and he did not bury her alive. There is no mention of any other daughter of his being buried alive. Furthermore, Islam erases the sins that preceded it.
