How can the sex be determined for conceiving a male or female?

It is impermissible to predetermine the sex of the fetus for anyone capable of conception through conventional means. However, artificial insemination is permissible under specific regulations and conditions. It is advisable to be content with what Allah has ordained and to ask Him for righteous offspring, for a female child may bring forth manifold more goodness and happiness than a male child.
