Why did God specifically choose fire to speak to Moses (peace be upon him), and not a bright, luminous light other than fire?

Many exegetes have opined that Moses saw a light, which he mistook for fire, and that the fire mentioned was not actual fire but a glowing light, or the light of the Lord of the Worlds, as Ibn Abbas and others stated. Al-Qurtubi mentioned that Moses saw a great light and thought it was fire. Most scholars believe that the fire Moses saw was light, and the evidence for this is that it was burning in a green tree that only increased in greenness and beauty.
