What is the authenticity of the saying of Anas, may Allah be pleased with him: "And I witnessed him on the day of his death, and there was nothing uglier or darker than the day the Messenger of Allah, may Allah's prayers and peace be upon him and his family, died," and does it contradict the prohibition of cursing time?

The hadith of Anas ibn Malik, which describes the day the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) entered Medina as "everything in it was illuminated," and the day of his passing as "everything in it became dark," or "uglier," is an authentic hadith. The meaning of "uglier" here is "far from good," which is a metaphor for the intensity of grief and sorrow over the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) departure. This description of feelings differs from cursing time, which is forbidden in Islamic law and means attributing events to time instead of to Allah. Anas did not attribute the ability to act to the day, but rather described the state of the people and their feelings. This is similar to the Qur'an's description of the days of the destruction of the people of 'Ad as "unlucky" (nahisāt) or "continuous misfortune" (nahs mustamirr), which is merely a statement of fact, not a curse.
