Is it permissible to lie on one's stomach while reading, writing, or doing other things, or is the prohibition specific only to the state of sleep?

Lying on the stomach is considered disliked (makruh) by scholars, whether one intends to sleep or not, based on the prohibition of the Prophet (peace be upon him) regarding it.
