Is the intent behind the command of the Prophet, may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him, to separate children in their beds when they reach the age of ten, to separate between girls and boys, or between a boy and a boy, and a girl and a girl?

Among the virtues of Islam is instilling chastity and purity in the young generation. This includes its command to separate children in their beds when they reach ten years of age, as a precaution against the pitfalls of lust. This applies to both males and females and can be achieved by providing a separate bed for each child or by placing a barrier cloth between them if they share one bed.
