Is Umrah valid after cutting hair from the front, back, right, and left?

Scholars have differed on the sufficient amount of shaving or shortening of the hair. The Malikis and Hanbalis hold that it is obligatory to shave or shorten all of the hair on the head, while the Hanafis believe that shaving a quarter of the head is obligatory. The Shafi'is, however, consider shaving or shortening three hairs to be sufficient.

If a pilgrim performing Umrah shaves only some of his hair, and he did so in accordance with the fatwa of a scholar, then there is nothing upon him. However, if he did so of his own accord, then his action is insufficient, and he remains in his state of ihram. He must remove his clothes and shave or shorten all of his hair now to exit ihram. Any prohibitions he committed before exiting ihram are forgiven due to his ignorance.
