Is it permissible to take a loan from a bank that does not charge interest, knowing that the borrower is a student?
All divine laws have unanimously forbidden usury and everything that assists in it. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, cursed the one who consumes usury, the one who feeds it, its two witnesses, and its scribe. One must avoid dealing with usurers, as that falls under cooperating in sin and aggression. Some contemporary scholars have stated that it is not permissible to enter under the roof of their buildings. Even if this transaction is free of usury, it still involves dealing with those whose wealth is illicit. Scholars have stipulated the impermissibility of dealing with them if all of their wealth is unlawful, and the wealth of usurious banks is derived from usurious interest and dubious transactions.
