The driver who killed by mistake owes blood money (diyya) to be paid by his 'aqila (male kin on the father's side), and he must also perform the expiation for accidental killing, which is: freeing a slave. If he cannot find one, then he must fast for two consecutive months. The company's bearing the blood money on his behalf does not waive the expiation.
