If they are attached for a legitimate purpose, such as medical treatment for an illness, then there is no harm in them, provided they are not long enough to prevent water from reaching the skin during ablution (wudu') or ritual bath (ghusl (definition)). They must be removed if possible without harm, and they must not contradict the characteristics of fitra (natural disposition), and they must be made from a pure substance. 2. If they are attached merely for adornment, then it is not permissible, because this is considered altering the creation of Allah.
