What is the ruling on sending blessings upon the Prophet in the form: "O Allah, bless our master Muhammad to the extent of Your love for him; by his prestige with You, relieve me of my present condition. O Allah, I do not ask You to avert the decree, but I ask You for gentleness in it"?

The supplication contained three phrases. "O Allah, bless Muhammad as much as Your love for him" contains a linguistic error; the correct phrasing is: "as much as Your love for him." The second phrase: invoking the Prophet (peace be upon him) by his status, which is prohibited according to Ibn Taymiyyah's fatwas. The third phrase: "I do not ask You to avert the decree, but I ask You for gentleness therein," and this is objectionable, because du'a (supplication) averts the decree. It is better to ask Allah for well-being (al-afiyah) instead of asking for affliction with gentleness. A Muslim should adhere to the prescribed adhkar (remembrances) and du'as (supplications).
